Plan to build new 30-unit rental complex on Sykes Mountain Avenue in White River Junction

Project will include community gardens, open space, and a play area

Twin Pines Housing Trust is planning to build a new, 30-unit rental complex on Sykes Mountain Avenue in White River Junction, VT. The project will include one- and two-bedroom apartments with parking underneath, community gardens, a play area, and open space on this 6-acre site. A second phase of townhouse-style apartments is also being discussed along with the best way to access and protect nearby Lily Pond.

This $8 million, mixed-income project is being developed in partnership with Housing Vermont ( Units will be available based on household size and income as a percent of the area median income (AMI) for Windsor County, which is $72,600 for a family of four in 2017.

  •   21 units for households at 50% and 60% of AMI
  •   9 units for households at 80-120% of AMI
  •   25% of tax credit units for the homeless

Twin Pines has obtained permits from the Hartford Department of Planning and Development and is finalizing designs. Initial funding has been approved by Vermont Housing and Conservation Board, and Twin Pines will apply for Low Income Housing Tax Credits in 2018. Gifts and grants from individuals, businesses, and foundations will also play an important role in funding this new affordable housing community.
